Solo and Ensembles are driving me CRAZY!

Today is the first day of the Florida Bandmaster's Association Solo and Ensemble festival. Our kids are complaining, we are trying to get everything in order, and basically everyone is really stressed out! I can't wait for this weekend to be over - crazy as that sounds. The Jazz Band is going to do fine, but I think that a lot of the solo players might crash and burn due to procrastonation on their part. They have known about this since November but some of them only started practicing last week. Hopefully this will be a wake up call to some of the more lazy students.

FREE COFFEE!

I went to Panera Bread this morning and was handed an empty full-size coffee cup and asked, "Would you like to have a cup of our new coffee? It's free." I was like "Helz Yea!" Who would turn that down? So head on over to Panera Bread - they're doing it all day. Get yourself some of that Decaff or Dark Roast.... Hazelnut is my fav.

Symphonic Band

So I have decided that my first blog entry will be about an issue that I have to deal with every day at work.... my students being narcoleptic. I can't seem to understand why the school district has made the decision to have high school start at such an early time in the morning - 7:30 am!!! Teenagers really need more time to sleep so that they are not hanging over their music stands with drool dripping all over their music because they were up last night watching Hannah Montana.
